Stanford in the Vale Parish Council
Parish, town and community councils in England and Wales have a number of basic responsibilities in making the lives of local communities more comfortable. Essentially these powers fall within three main categories: representing the whole electorate within the parish, delivering services to meet local needs and striving to improve quality of life in the parish.
Your Parish Council
The Council comprises upto 10 elected representatives, who are unpaid volunteers. The Council employs a part-time Clerk. We manage and fund a range of activities on behalf of our community: the Council-owned property (including Village Greens, Community Woodland and both playgrounds), tree maintenance and litter picking.
We also review and comment on all local planning applications, coordinate with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) and Vale of White Horse District Council (VWHDC) on issues that affect the parish and help deal with issues raised by parishioners.
We support community projects for the benefit of the Parish, eg Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, War Memorial, First Responders, Wantage Independent Advice Centre, provision of community notice boards.
